2012 photo competition winners announced
The winners of Thompson & Morgan’s 2012 photo competition have been announced! This year we received hundreds of entries for each category – thank you to all who participated. The decisions were made much more difficult by the high quality of photos that we received. Thompson & Morgan’s judges, with the help of local garden and plant photographer Michael Warren, chose the following winners:
Hanging Baskets & Containers
Alan Statham, Derbys
Mr Statham’s stunning display of begonias wowed the judges and earned him top prize in the Hanging Baskets & Containers category.
Digitalis Illumination Pink
Mrs A J Bailey, Derbys
We set our customers the challenge of growing and photographing their own Digitalis ‘Illumination Pink’ flowers, after this impressive new plant was crowned Plant of the Year 2012 at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. And what fabulous displays they were indeed! The top prize goes to Mrs Bailey for her stunning close up of her foxglove blooms.
Maureen Allen, West Midlands
Mrs Allen’s secluded patio looks like the perfect place to while away the hours on a sunny afternoon and this photo won her the top prize of a £250 Thompson & Morgan voucher!
Amy Lloyd, Herts
In this category our customers really got the chance to show off their photographic skills. We were looking for some terrific arty shots – and we weren’t disappointed! Amy Lloyd’s ‘Poppy with wildlife’ was a clear winner, with its vivid and crisp colours.
Your Beds & Borders
Alan Statham, Derbys
A great day for Mr. Statham, having already won the Hanging Baskets & Containers category, the judges were amazed by the sheer flower power of his delightful front garden and felt that it deserved the top prize.
Vegetables & Fruit
Phil Beckett, West Midlands
A lovely picture of Mr Beckett’s veg patch and budding gardener getting involved in the hard work impressed the judges in this category.
The top prize in each category was £250 worth of Thompson & Morgan vouchers and runners-up each received a £10 voucher. Our 2012 competitions are now closed, but you’ll have the chance to enter next year when we announce the new categories in spring 2013. Visit our website for more details.
