To celebrate the start of the Big Butterfly Count (20th July – 11th August), we’d love to see your photos of butterflies. You could win up to £25 in Thompson & Morgan vouchers!

Simply head over to our competitions page to submit your photos and enter the competition online.

There are three prizes up for grabs:

1st prize: £25 Thompson & Morgan voucher

2nd prize: £15 Thompson & Morgan voucher

3rd prize: £10 Thompson & Morgan voucher

The competition is open to everyone and you can submit as many photos as you like, so get creative with your butterfly shots! It ends on 11th August and we’ll contact the winners shortly afterwards.

We’ve added some new categories this year and competitions are open to everyone, so whether you have a single hanging basket outside your front door, a couple of tubs on your balcony or acres of formal gardens you could win some fantastic prizes, as well as seeing your photos on our website or even in one of our catalogues.

The prizes
The winners of the begonia and tree lily categories will receive £100 in Thompson & Morgan vouchers, winners of the remaining categories will receive £250 in Thompson & Morgan vouchers.

We will also select an unlimited number of runners-up, who will each receive £10 in Thompson & Morgan vouchers if their image is selected for use in Thompson & Morgan’s catalogues.

Preparing your entry

We will only accept entries in digital format for this competition.

Tips for taking great photos:

  • Keep any backgrounds simple and uncluttered
  • Choose a perfect bloom when shooting close-ups
  • Do not shoot into the sun or during bright sunshine
  • Take some vertical pictures, not always horizontal
  • Think differently, experiment…

2012 photo competition winners announced

The winners of Thompson & Morgan’s 2012 photo competition have been announced! This year we received hundreds of entries for each category – thank you to all who participated. The decisions were made much more difficult by the high quality of photos that we received. Thompson & Morgan’s judges, with the help of local garden and plant photographer Michael Warren, chose the following winners:

We set our customers the challenge of growing and photographing their own Digitalis ‘Illumination Pink’ flowers, after this impressive new plant was crowned Plant of the Year 2012 at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. And what fabulous displays they were indeed! The top prize goes to Mrs Bailey for her stunning close up of her foxglove blooms.
